The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to the crewed yacht-charter industry, comparable to some of the most transformative shifts in decades. As with all travel sectors, the charter industry has adapted to the new realities, implementing revised contracts, enhanced safety measures for guests and crew, and other adjustments.

By mid-July, after navigating the initial challenges of the pandemic, major charter companies worldwide began to see a resurgence in bookings. Although the summer season was relatively slow, it provided an opportunity to test new policies and ideas in preparation for the winter season in the Caribbean.

Many charter yachts now offer contracts with contingencies and refund policies in case of COVID-19-related illness or government restrictions. Enhanced sanitation protocols are in place aboard many yachts, along with plans for managing any illness that may arise during the charter.
